🎉 What a Day at the Northumberland Fire & Rescue Open Day!

We had an amazing time at the Northumberland Fire and Rescue Open Day at West Hartford, Cramlington, on September 6th!

Our special event callsign GB9NFR was live on the air — and although radio conditions weren’t perfect, we still made some great contacts. But the real highlight was the buzz around our stand! Families, radio enthusiasts, and lots of curious youngsters stopped by for a chat. The children especially enjoyed having a go on the mini Morse key, and our pocket-sized Morse code cards went down a storm.

We also shared plenty of leaflets about amateur radio and the club, sparking loads of interest from people wanting to learn more.

The whole day was full of excitement, from the dramatic firefighter demonstrations outside to all the brilliant stalls inside. It was a fantastic chance to show the fun and variety of our hobby to the wider community.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen at such short notice — you did an incredible job! We’re already buzzing with new ideas for next year’s event, and can’t wait to do it all again.
