The 1st Ashington Scouts visited the club for Jamborees on the Air , J.O.T.A to gain their Communicator Badge .

Thanks to Chris G4NAB ( our STEM officer ) who organised things and Chris G3SQU , David 2E0PIH, Robin M0JQQ , John M0JWZ and Stuart G6AKW the Scout leaders and of course the Scouts .

Below is a summary of the day from Stuart G6AKW

“Some really nice contacts were made this morning, on JOTA, and a bit surreal; (the 1st one made on 40mtrs, was with Mark, at Gilwell Park.)
(The home of Scouting, in Essex; it was bought for the Scout Association in 1919).

The 1st Ashington Scouts were a real credit to their leaders; they should be proud of the exemplary manners, displayed by all the boys.
It was a privilege to be there, and see scouting still going strong, albeit with the modern changes being made; I was told.

I think BP would have been impressed, and pleasantly surprised.”

It was also noted that quite a few Scouts got the morse CW bug on the day and even downloaded a morse game called Morse Mania on to their mobile phones so they could practice later .

A great day was had by all.
